Fighting Off A Memory

Well I’m fighting off a memory, taking her out of my directory
That old love is history and remembering isn’t doing any good for me
So I’m closing down the used to be and propping up what’s left of me
‘cause I’m all done working at the factory of heartache and lovesick memories

She’s a hard act to follow, it’s been a tough pill to swallow
But I’m so tired of feeling hollow and my friends are sick of watching me wallow
So I’m fighting off a memory, taking her out of my directory
‘cause I’m all done working at the factory of heartache and lovesick memories
memories, memories, they’re trying to kill me

She ain’t taking me down no more and I ain’t crying like I did before
I’m scraping myself up off the floor and shooing myself on out the door
And I ain’t letting the memories stir, I don’t care if they ask about her
It’s over now and I’ll just let em know, and they can tell her I told em so

‘cause I’m fighting off a memory, taking her out of my directory
That old love is history and remembering isn’t doing any good for me
So I’m closing down the used to be and propping up what’s left of me
‘cause I’m all done working at the factory of heartache and lovesick memories
memories, memories, they’re trying to kill me
Memories. memories, memories, they’re trying to kill me
