Late Great Golden State

In the late great golden state
It’s getting hard to negotiate
when you’re one slip from a grim fate
In the late great golden state

In the late great golden state
I don’t do much but I’m always late
I ain’t old but I’m out of date
In the late great golden state

Ain’t much of nothing on the plate
Ain’t a whole lot to celebrate
They’ll pack you up and send you home in a crate
It’s the late great golden state

I caught one last glimpse of the Palomino
And I rode out to see the purple sage
And as the canyons burn and the mountains crumble
The last cowboy band left the stage

In the late great golden state
Nice place for a clean slate
But leave your expectations at the gate
It’s the late great golden state
It’s the late great golden state
It’s the late great golden state
